Located about 30 miles to the north of Washington, DC is the unincorporated Maryland town of Montgomery Village. Situated within Montgomery County, this area is a large planned suburban community that was developed in the 1960s and 70s. It is located just outside of the limits of Gaithersburg, providing residents and visitors with access to the best attractions in the area.
Montgomery Village is home to many rolling green hills, scenic regional parks, various lakes and cherry blossom trees. Montgomery Village also offers an abundant array of housing options. Because of this, the community is a popular destination for a variety of homebuyers.
Things to Do in Montgomery Village
Lakeforest Mall, on the southern end of town features around 160 different stores amidst 1,045,000 square feet of retail space and two floors. The Lakeforest Mall was also one of the first in the nation to feature an indoor ice skating rink. Retailers at the mall include Charlotte Russe, The Children's Place, Foot Locker, H&M, JCPenney, Macy's, and much more. There are also many different types of dining options at the mall including a Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and a Ruby Tuesday.
Locals who want to enjoy the great outdoors head to Seneca Creek State Park. This park is made up of 6,300 acres and extends along 14 scenic miles of the Seneca Creek. The Clopper Day-Use Area contains many scenic areas, including Clopper Lake, which is 90 acres in size and is surrounded by forests and fields. Picnicking, boat rentals, trails and a tire playground are just some of the park’s recreational amenities. Also close to the park is the Schaeffer Farm Trail Area, which provides visitors with 12 miles of marked trails for hiking and mountain biking. If you’re looking for even more adventure, the 16.5-mile Seneca Creek Greenway Trail follows the entire course of the Seneca Creek.
